A PROUD PART OF NORTH BAY HISTORY
The White Owl Bistro was originally built in 1934 as a confectionery store and small diner. It was famous for serving local patrons tasty breakfast, sandwiches and the largest ice cream cones in the Bay. It was later sold then purchased by the Sunset Inn (located next door) in 2003 and renovated into the 40 seat restaurant it is today.
In 2006, René and his wife Laura Dubois (Graduates of Canadore College Culinary Management Year 2000) became the proud owners of the White Owl Bistro. They continue the tradition of satisfying local patrons with great food and welcoming new ones passing by.

Dalew Farms is owned and operated by Dave and Chantal Lewington and their children Jacob, Olivia and Emma. They proudly service the Sudbury, North Bay and Sturgeon Falls areas. Dave has served several years in various positions for the National Farmers Union, fighting for the best interests of beginning farmers and small family farms. Dave and Chantal are also members of the Ecological Farmers of Ontario, the Cattlemen’s Association, the Creative Meats Abattoir Producer Group and the Eat Local Sudbury Co-operative. They are both very passionate about small scale organic agriculture, and work extremely hard to grow the healthiest and most nutritious food they can each season, in an environmentally sustainable way. When we make decisions on our farm, the primary factor is: “Would we feel comfortable feeding this food to our own family?!”
The answer to that question is YES! They are proud to say that this will be Dalew Farms 10th season at this location, raising drug free and GMO free animals on pasture. They have gained a lot of experience, and are confident in their ability to continue to produce foods of the finest quality using organic methods.

Since 1974 we have been keeping bees in the North. We believe that the honeybee is an amazing creature. Our 300 colonies are situated in the scenic pristine and unpolluted countryside of Northern Ontario’s Almaguin/Nipissing Region. The bees pollinate old farming fields, cattle fields and non- industrial farming areas that are known for not using pesticides.

Our family history of producing maple syrup started back in the 1920′s when grandpa Foreshew tapped trees on his farm in the Loring area. Bill Matthews, Dave’s father tapped in the 1930′s and by 1959 when he passed away he had 400 taps in his sugarbush on the north road in Loring. Dave’s brother John took over their father’s operation and is still producing in the Loring area.
In 1979 Dave and Audrey bought 30 acres of bush on the Ski Hill Rd. west of Powassan. In the spring of 1980 they had 50 buckets and a homemade 2′ x 6′ open evaporator in our driveway. In 1987 we purchased the adjacent 30 acres and changed from 500 buckets to 500 taps on pipeline. Over the years the number of taps steadily increased from 500 to 3,000. In the mid 90’s we converted the evaporator from wood to oil and added a reverse osmosis machine.
In 1998 we started an expansion project and cover a total of 200 acres with 15,000 taps.
